Status Update

  • GoSL continues to implement its portfolio of capital projects with construction ongoing on over 10 projects and the completion of some projects in 2021. It is estimated that over 1200 jobs have been created through the implementation of these projects across Saint Lucia.
  • Some of the major ongoing projects include the Cul de Sac Bridge, the Vieux Fort Water Redevelopment Project and the Millenium Highway West Coast Road Rehabilitation project. The West Coat Road Project is expected to employ 250 to 300 persons.
  • Two major roading projects were completed including with RIMP with over 45km of road rehabilitated.
  • Some of the projects being implemented under the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) have completed including the Fly Nursery and Victor Archer Building with construction ongoing on several including the Anse la Raye Venus Road and the Piaye Bridge Reconstruction project, while other projects under this programme are also nearing completion.
  • Facilitation of private sector businesses also continues with noticeable expansion in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector with over 850 jobs created in 2021.
  • Invest Saint Lucia facilitated the expansion of ItelBPO where an additional 700 jobs were created in 2021.
  • Other private sector projects in agro-processing and tourism have also advanced and construction has commenced on some major hotel developments in the north and southeast of the island. There are also some other tourism projects in the pipeline that are expected to be advanced in 2022.
